Then a couple weeks later they look in the mirror and realize they are still overweight so they "diet" for another day. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? To shoot the ball consistently well you have to develop the proper mechanics and muscle memory and the best way to do that is to shoot almost every day!

At very least, you should practice twice a week. Roughly 2 days a week of practice each week will allow you to see some improvements next season. You also need consistent shot mechanics to make improvements. Mechanics need to be the same consistent! For example, when practicing your dribbling, if you're not making some mistakes and losing the ball, then you're not getting out of your comfort zone.

The only way to learn a new skill is to get out of your comfort zone and be willing to make mistakes. This is particularly true when it comes to shooting. When you do shoot the ball, be sure you shoot the same way each time. If you are changing your technique during the workout or just because you missed a few shots, you are not getting better.

Maintain focus and try not to get frustrated after missed shots. Triangle Shooting How the Drill Works: A player takes three different shots from 5 spots on the floor.

Purpose: This drill works on a variety of shots from the perimeter. Start in the corner, on the 3-point line, with a basketball. You must make 3 shots from this position before moving on to the next one. The three shooting spots: a left one-dribble pull-up b right one-dribble pull-up c catch and shoot jump shot There are 5 spots on the court corner, wing, top of the key, opposite wing, and opposite corner and you must make these 3 shots from each of them. Finishing with a total of 15 shots.

Variations: Distance - Younger players can start from midrange distance, about 15 feet from the basket free throw range. Coaching Points: Pay attention to your shooting form on each shot.
