If it became stuck, Papyrus would begin to lag. This one is an example of one we fixed, but it won't help if the game is already broken because of it.
This will then break the DLC questline. This then breaks the end of the DLC. This one can't be undone if you broke it before installing the patch. By no means an exhaustive list. There are gobs more just like this. The point is, the evidence is crystal clear. There are non-trivial breakages in the game and DLCs that people are willfully overlooking by claiming the patches to be useless.

Use the "Change to" option. Make sure to hit save so the change takes effect. Expand the file tree, go to the "Header" section. If this worked, the game should load those files like normal. Where did you download the file and what folder you are trying to open? Most importantly: What does the error message say? There are no folders in Unofficial Skyrim Patch packs.
Last edited by Mosalu ; 28 Dec, am. I am afraid that this is coming from your end. I just tested the file from DarkCreations and it did not give any errors for me. For me, these files appear as RAR-files. You could try the trial version of WinRAR from their home page, if you wish to keep trying this. However, using NMM does not actually require you to use any packer program altough WinRAR, 7-Zip or similar is very much recommended , because you can just pick and install the packed file with it.
I link the WinRAR main page below. Link to trial version is in the top right of it. I still recommend moving to Nexus Mod Manager to actually mod your game. Morokite View Profile View Posts.
